They chucked this girl up pretty high!

I don't really do much photographing of the cheer squads, but if

someone, especially a parent, has thoughts about what they like to see

in cheer photos, I'd be quite interested.

Having looked through your portfolio, Kirt, I see you have a true gift for this. These types of shots are hard work, and this one, as all in your portfolio, are fantastic frozen moments in time. You capture the most amazing expressions with incredible detail :)

Well, it's not the most beautiful of poses but it sure makes a nice diagonal. I wish the bg was even more blurred. But basically, very good shot, good timing and composition.

I agree, Juha, in that I'm positive that this cheerleader can no doubt smile and really pose with the best of them. They practice hard and when they are performing, they give maximum effort. I think I was motivated to post this shot because not only was she way up in the air (that is the top row of the bleachers you see) but her face gives just a slight hint of how much effort it takes to do these things.

Thanks for adding to the discussion. I wonder if her mom would like the shot if she was smiling like it was all effortless? I'm not sure it would be a "better" picture in my eyes.

After the jump, she falls back-first to the ground, trusting that her teammates will catch her.
