mbp 0 Posted February 13, 2008 I hope you have an amazing zoom on your camera. I would hate to be too close to that bear. Great picture. Link to comment
geert_orye 0 Posted February 13, 2008 I was expecting a subtitle like "In memory of..." It frightens me just to look at this picture. Link to comment
mbevel 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Wow, I don't think I would have been able to stay still long enough to take this shot... Excellent... Link to comment
ye 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Would you describe how was this shot? Were you safely out of reach of this dangerous bear? Why was it awake in the middle of winter? Because it is so dangerous, and there are real stories of photographers loosing their lives shooting pictures of bears - I'd really love to know details of this shoot, and to find out you were safe... Because if you were actually at risk - this is not a fun picture at all! Link to comment
kobra 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Picture was taken in NP Bavarian forest, bears (and some other local wild animals as well) are in captivity, but on huge area, not like in a Zoo. I did it with Nikon D300 and Sigma 120-300, f2,8 from a hand - no tripod (1/800 s, ISO 400, f 2,8, dynamic AF 51 points). Area for visitors (point where I stood) is app. at same hight as a (cub) bear running to me, therefore it looks he is running to get me for a meal. I have no courage to make such a photo in open area, or this could be mine last photo taken, ever! But, you have to admit, I got it like "last photo of a photographer....." In photo details you have a location where photo is taken. NP means National Park and this shot was not declared as wildlife photography. A lot of photos here and also for commercial use are faked "wildlife" and I really don't like when photographers declare that kind of photos as wildlife. Be honest and say that it is faked or otherwise arranged (trained animals, feeding wild animals on a daily base to get a good shot...) Thanks for your comments and ratings. florianabarbu 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Jesus! for a moment I thought ...that you was in a big trouble :) Excellent job, very good exposure. I like that the bear is runing , is not a zoo static bear. Link to comment
kolaczan 0 Posted February 15, 2008 I've been in a situation like this a few times. The thought of grabbing my camera is always in my mind. Never done it yet. Great capture. Link to comment
