dgv 1 Posted February 12, 2008 Is a pity is only for critique. The light and the composition are excellent. Link to comment
Alx 0 Posted February 12, 2008 Very difficult but successful contre-jour & beautiful image. Ciao, Alx Link to comment
aginbyte 0 Posted February 12, 2008 ... does not do your photo justice, Photis. The banding in the sky and the pixel clustering around the tree all are compromises. In the real shot you've probably got a beautiful gradation in the sky, blending into the misty land and then even detail in the town below. Bring out the high res! Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 12, 2008 You know what happened. My complaints to Josh were real.I've already reduced resolution and size in almost my whole portfolio. Now it looks like a shameful attempt of an amateur, trying to hide his compact camera's limitations.I can mail you a better version and to everyone who's really interested to keep one of my images. The title has changed.Sorry. photis santamouris 23 Posted February 12, 2008 Critique only.Possible high ratings are risky. Of more potential theft. I'm not sure if there are more suckers in any other site than this, after what happened yesterday and the day before. Link to comment
paradox1 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Nice image Phos. Pitty about the res but I understand why completely. The last thing i want to see is any artist's work being ripped off. You only have to type a name in google to see where your images go. Check this one http://pic.playcomet.com/search.aspx?q=PhoS%20Sant Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 13, 2008 Since you're the first here to fully realize the meaning of what's happening and since, by changing servers,pic.playcomet.com, are active again,I can tell you that 3 days ago I contacted Google Adsense, posted a comment of copyright infringement under each of my stolen images, contacted gov.e-crime,here and there, asked for expertise legal advice here, and notified again a while ago Google, posting a violation report and threatening them with legal action.I'll soon post an article on what photography is for me and how much time ,effort and money I've spent during the last 30 years, just to have the pleasure nowadays of posting and exchanging comments and ideas with people like you here. Many thanks for you alert, advice and understanding. sonneland 0 Posted February 13, 2008 My dear Photis, I wrote on here earlier, but must have done something wrong as it is gone. Only gave my opinion as to what has been happening regarding China and p/n images. The theft of images has been going on a lot longer than the internet has been around. Could tell you some funny stories of what was happening in the 70's but they somehow seem irrelevant today. I sort of dedicated a image to you today hope you like it, well at least the title!! Look in the nude section. All the best.........roger Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted February 14, 2008 PhoS. I can only imagine what the real shot looks like. For now, I'm going to operate in denial and let the Chinese have fun with my pictures if they choose. No more pics of the kids, though. I like this image. It's lonely, yet it's strong. Link to comment
kenrick 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Hi PhoS, Sorry you are forced to post in lo res now but I understand. I wasn't aware before that your work was used without permission. Anyhow this is still a great shot with your style. Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 14, 2008 Very kind of you to comment on the image.I'm glad you like it. Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 14, 2008 I am here through plfoto.info,a new site through which you can sign in ,in photo.net.A new, truly ridiculous situation. I wish I would have made images like yours of the 70's.I'm happy you did that.Best regards. Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 14, 2008 I am sure someone is not only having fun of our images, but of us,as individuals.I feel so sorry to say such a thing. Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 14, 2008 Glad you're here. One's cents may seem endless at the time, but that does not mean that everyone is a sucker here.I just don't like to say here what messages I have received and it's my own fault if some of my images were used here by tour operators to promote travels in my own country. But this is not the case here.Chinese,Polish...and who knows the rest that follows.I've already deleted more than half of my images, along with your nice comments, reduced the size of most of them , went through frustrating .gov sites ,exchanged mails with many involved in this situation, spent all my free time talking to people about this and ended up today with little at hand. But I'll find more time and and I'll try to explain why this "hobby"is far more important for me,than with some who haven't ever left the comfort of their town and armchair. cherlyn 1 Posted February 15, 2008 Stealing of images over the internet is a common thing nowadays as illegal download & copy is so easy, & nothing much can be done about it. Such a pity that this make photographers hesitate to upload their beautiful images online. How can this playCOmet steal our images (in fact our whole portfolio in PN) onto their seach engine without our approval? I can understand your anger. This image, in full resolution,I think would be most beautiful with the layers of hills & lovely light. Link to comment
stamos 1 Posted February 15, 2008 Great photo even in low-res! Keep on even in low-res. Regards, Stamoulis. Link to comment
mommix 0 Posted February 15, 2008 Enchanting and lovely image, even on low-resol. Is a pity that an excellent image like this is only for critique! 7/7, Bravo, all my compliments and regards, Maury Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 15, 2008 Thank you for your truly encouraging words and I really hope it's not your last visit here.Since I've stopped submitting my "beautiful landscapes"for rating ,I'll try and give my friends as many 6s and 7ns as I am allowed to.Aristotle Onassis was a very rich and great man.One day he came across a kiosk and asked for a packet of his brand of cigarettes. He knew the price and was ready to give the man a big tip.The kiosk man recognized him and asked him to pay 3 bucks instead of the real price of 2.80.Well , he threw the packet onto the man's face and left very angry telling him that he was rich but not a sucker!
