It is somewhat difficult to rate as the image size doesn't allow for seeing much detail in the fence. Perhaps you could post your next photo just a bit larger? I like the concept of fences against green fields and blue skies. I almost want to start singing..."don't fence me in".

Besides the fence being a little out of focus, I am wondering if this might be better to have had the camera a little lower and tilted up just a bit. Put a little more fence in and the barb wire wouldn't be going through the very center of the photo.

The idea behind the shot is good, although it can be developed a bit further. Having the wires in sharp focus while letting the background blur is cool. And I like the idea of having the horizontal lines of the wires echo the distant horizon. Sandwiching the horizon between two wires also works very effectively.

For a better sense of abstraction, I agree with the comment that the wires should cover the entire frame. Also, I'd like to see both the wires and the horizon level. If you like the idea of a tilt, then tilt it a little more to make it look obvious. As is, the tilt seems almost accidental.

The image quality is lacking here. As mentioned, there is a greenish cast. That can be corrected by adjusting colour balance with any image software. The darker corners/edges doesn't look to me like vignetting, but more like the result light falloff or poor scanner quality.

I think I know what you're trying to do here, but it bothers me that the picture isn't in focus except for the barbed wire. (Maybe it's my monitor resolution?)

Nicolas: I am guessing that the technical inequities here are intentional. I've looked at your other images and formed the impression that what you are doing is quite deliberate. The image is quite low in resolution but the mood is certainly there. My feeling is that it's too emotionally dark for my own tastes but I have certainly been in this place in the past. I think we all have. This is a very personal and inward looking image and I think it's difficult for us to look past the soft, murky colors of the technical aspects and see what you are showing here. Nevertheless, I think it helps you to make a personal statement and I wouldn't condemn that. Could we have your interpretation of what you feel when you view this image? We are at a disadvantage without it.

Nicolas, I like the concept of this shot, but I am distracted a little by the murky look of the green background. Also, the focus of the barb wire. I feel the shot has a lot of potential, but I am not exactly sure what your thoughts were behind capturing this shot. I would like to know, because it can help me see something that you picked up on, and I have not developed an eye for whatever that may be. Overall I feel this shot has a lot to show, I am just trying to see what I may be missing.

I actually like the dark mood and the unfocussed background. I think that some sharpening of the wire is needed, though, and the color cast really detracts.
