Using my husband as a model...

This is the first portrait I ever took (here: my husband).

The scan is bad, the print looks crystal clear.

However, I would be interested in tips and critique concerning the

artisical, composition, lighting and posing aspects of the picture.

 

I am a complete beginner, so any comments are welcome.

Not a bad portrait photo. Looks like you flashed him, and judging by the warm light behind him you might have done better to use some of that light.
