this is great Ger the lighting and composition is superb, his hand isn't very sharp but I suppose this gives it a sense of movment but maybe it should be more blurred of cause Im just nitpicking. Its a fantastic image so very well done.

Thanks guys...I wanted a bit of movement and just told him to be full of movement. It was actually shot at about 16:00, the light from behind was a flash and he was lit from the front with a strobe.

Okay, Ger, here goes. I like the location, the idea behind the shot and the pose/action. Unfortunately, the focus on the cinder block wall is so nice that I keep looking at the texture and lines there rather than at the man. Also, I wonder if you had left slightly more room at the bottom if that might have made a bit of difference as well. Still, interesting idea.

Creative and well done!

I love that you push yourself... For me, it's the backlighting that makes this shot...

Yes, the cinders and the rock wall are sharp... I love that about it... The contrasting textures between teh two walls, along with his movement and pose just really do something for me here.

Even the trees in the background aren't completely in black (you know that I would look! LOL!)

I like some of the ideas given here from others, but personally would be happy with this result as well if it were mine.

Of the two, I like this one slightly better. The B&W treatment simplifies the shot, making it more about whatever story (?) is unfolding. The backlighting works perfectly, creating almost an aura. Playing bongos in an alleyway--not your everyday fare.

I love that he plays on.

Great adventure shot and great way of using light.

I also like the tone of the picture and it almost has a clay animation feel to it.
