davidorea 1 Posted February 9, 2008 Beautiful portrait of a lovely girl, PhoS. A delight of colors, light and BG. Excellent photograph! Best regards! Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted February 9, 2008 This has such a classic feel in terms of the way it has been lit. The reflected light on the left cheek is so well handled. This could easily be the basis of a luminous oil painting. Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 9, 2008 I'm glad you like this old portait, made in 1987,on slide film.Contax TLA 30 unit was held via a dedicated cable on the right of her face, while a reflector was positioned around 1 metre on the left.Being so "sure" then, in what the result will be,no other similar shots were made,as this is 1/2 stop underexposed, but scanned using the low backlight command on my scanner. bertr 0 Posted February 9, 2008 This is not only a very young, but also a very beautiful lady. She also had a very excellent photographer...Bert Link to comment
tonmestrom 4 Posted February 9, 2008 it not so much has a classical feel but more a dated one. For me that is fully due to the coloring (colorcast?). I'm not one to alter other people's photo's. In this case however I'll make an excption because, yes it's a very good portrait en secondly I think it would benefit a whole lot from just a bit of colorcorrecting. Regards, Ton Link to comment

photis santamouris 23 Posted February 10, 2008 I'm sure she would have been flattered if she could see your warm comments .Internet holds a lot of surprises for those willing to search!Anyway and if ever she could find this page, she'll get informed of how many dedicated photographers would have liked to make her portrait at her mid thirties! Not that I haven't talked her into trying professional modelling at that time. But she decided to study chemistry and then, who knows ... I've scanned more of her which I'll post shortly, and following Ton's suggestion,I scanned this slide again, altered coloration, hue, saturation and contrast and here it is!If you think this is closer to your taste, just say so and I'll upload this replacement instead of the initial. tonmestrom 4 Posted February 10, 2008 this one is a whole lot better. Where in the original one the colours were way off this one looks a lot better. Altough for my taste it's still a bit too strong on saturation (I'm a b&w guy, remember)you're right, it now IS down to personal taste. Good one Link to comment

vicenteconcha 8 Posted February 10, 2008 Speaking with an old photographer he lamented how the portraits are done at the moment, he remember that in his days was a very special occasion where they took care of the lighting and all the details. Your portrait reminds me of professionals who loved their work. Best wishes. Vicente. Link to comment
photis santamouris 23 Posted February 11, 2008 Adan,Vicente,Adela & Ioannis.I regret lowering quality and reducing size, after what happened recently to a lot of us.This is an all time favourite for me,although underexposed and not well worked on shadows.I appreciate everyone's comment and help.
