vs1 0 Posted February 6, 2008 Great capture. I'm not sure about colors, they seem to be oversaturated. But anyway I like subject and what really make photo interesting is a comp. Congrats and all the best, VS Link to comment

lukas ondrousek aka jozef 0 Posted February 6, 2008 the skys is great. the rest not so. the whole scene is blended, there is not main motive which an eye can rest on. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted February 7, 2008 David: You've captured an amazing show of light, no doubt about it. The atmosphere here is absolutely stunning and exceedingly rare. Congrats. To be completely honest, the file needs to be reprocessed from scratch, however. Let me explain why. The red color channel at right is clipped due to over adjustment. The reflections are not nearly as strong/rich as the sky, leaving a rather unnatural appearance with less impact IMO. The light on the tree areas appears uneven due to grad use or other processing. The image has a very noticable tilt CW, at least 2 degrees. Hope this helps a little. You could get a lot more out of this stunning image with some more work. Good luck. Link to comment
amirali 1 Posted February 12, 2008 With such photo, the choice of 7/7 is obvious and easy ;) Link to comment
dcollierphoto 0 Posted February 12, 2008 Thank you all very much for the comments good and bad. This image was taken after a long day of backpacking in the five lakes area of the sierras. While dodging mosquitoes and making dinner, the sky that had been clear all day filled with storm clouds threatening to bring some bad weather, but instead all I got was this gorgeous sunset. The image was taken on my 5D with a fisheye lens. It was two bracketed exposures for highlight and shadow detail and later mixed together in photoshop using layer masks. Other than that, really not a lot work done to it: added a little contrast with levels. Thank you Marc for the tips on making it better. I will play around and see what I can come up with. - David Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 26, 2008 Looks almost like av Painting. A little too warm in tone for my taste. What kind of technique have you used here, if I may ask? Best regards Link to comment
pascalagneray 0 Posted February 28, 2008 The fire you put in the sky is nothing short of spectacular. This picture really stands out in the crowd. Link to comment
rjacksonphoto 0 Posted March 15, 2008 My only complaint is that the reflection is brighter, near the shore, than the original scene. I don't think there are any situations where you actually see this in the real world. I think that is what bothers some people about this(these) otherwise excellent shot(s). Link to comment
harrylichtman 0 Posted March 25, 2008 All of the elements work great and a kick butt sky to top it off- always a photographer's dream. The lighting is well balanced and makes me wish I were there instead of here in the office. Regards, Harry Link to comment
maria75 0 Posted August 25, 2008 One of the most beautiful, remarcable photos I've even seen so far. Link to comment
