tylerwind 0 Posted February 9, 2008 Did you finally utilized the "Tyler Technique" for lighthouse shots?!?! I'd like to think that I had anything at all to do with you capturing this shot but regardless it is spectacular, as always. I'm so happy for all the success you are having...you are truly one of the best. Keep up the great work--I enjoy it so much and learn a tremendous amount from you! Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted February 9, 2008 It was too far away for Tyler Technique! I am still yet to utilise the ninja black glove death move. Glad you like it and good to hear from you Tyler. Link to comment
david_morgan6 0 Posted June 5, 2008 Hi David, I have spent one of the most enjoyable hours sat at my computer looking at so many of your photos. You are such an inspirational photographer, and I so want to emulate what you produce. In relation to this photo, would you be so kind as to advise what the technique was? IE, is it two seperate exposures blended, or did you balance the foreground and sky with a gradual filter? Regards, David Morgan Link to comment
davidclapp 0 Posted June 6, 2008 Hello David, thanks for your kind words. No this is a straight shot. Me and my friend Mike turned up late to this location as we orginally favoured a spot close by which turned out to be no good. As the light levels continue dropping, the contrast lessens so its no longer necessary to use any grads (not that I ever do as I favour exposure blending) Its quite a long exposure taken about an hour after sunset, about two or more minutes from what I remember. The camera picks up a lot more light than the eye at these times and I remember we had a bit of a struggle find our may back. When the sky is clear Its always worth shooting until all the horizon sky colour has gone, as you never know what the camera will reveal. Link to comment
david_morgan6 0 Posted June 8, 2008 Hi David, Thanks for telling me how you achieved this wonderful look. I had some luck at the weekend as I was in Pembrokeshire. I used filters, but now I know that it can be done without, I'll give it a go next time I have the chance. Thanks again for the advice and I'll keep coming to your portfolio for inspiration!!
