i see a machine digging a grave for a dead human body. probably not what you intended, but looking at it that way makes it a really engaging photograph. i like the uncommon perspective of it as well. adds to the story telling. i really like this.

very smart, excellent

When I first saw the Featured Portfolio photo on the front page, I immediately thought how boring it appeared -- on closer inspection, I see a stretched out body and a tractor digging a rectangular hole just big enough for a long wooden box...

 

...perhaps that's not what you intended, but it made me cackle evilly. And, from reading above, it appears I'm not the only one who saw it this way. Intriguing photo.

Your photos are fantastic. I love the perspective, and the way it flattens the scene -- it almost makes it look more like a collage than a photo. Very cool.

Do always check Alexey's title, expect many interpretations and enjoy. I love it!

When I posted that "very smart, excellent" comment on this photo I was neitherthinking about "grave for the operator" nor "operator's paradise" I didn't evennotice the caption. what catched me was how each single element in this photoand any combination of them encourages the viewer to ponder and find relations,the lying man, the excavator, the hole, the pile of soil, two benches at right anglesthe curved walk road between them even the trees... and how the explicit composition and the unusual perspective pushes this feature of thephoto.

Doesn't matter what you think when you look at this photo, the power of it is solely in it's ability to make you ponder, wether you find a romantic, nostalgicor pure abstract relationship between the elements.

I know I'm making many enemies here by saying this but "I don't beleive in storytelling in art". I like a more abstract look. and abstract is not only a whitesheet of paper with random spots of color on it.

Looks like a videogame RPG perspective. Very funny and unusual.

I like the photo. I however see a tractor operator sneaking in a nap on the job. Not a dead body. The shovel on the tractor is in the resting position and not digging.

After looking at this image on the front page of the PN for three days I finally realized what it resembles me and why I like it: Mark Shagal.

My husband is a model train fan, and I've read many more layout mags than I normally would have. I know it's in Moscow. Is it in a field or is it a manufactured layout?

I just wonder: is it real world or did you set it up in your room with miniature plastic toys, models?

Excellent. I've first seen this in St.Petersburg in Oct.2002 I believe. This was the single best out of the whole exposition.

There is something WRONG about this photo that makes it feel RIGHT. Good work indeed.

What makes it "right" is the discomfort of disagreeing with "experts". There is a tractor. There is man lying down in boring landscape that plagued the earth since the fall. Art being subjective allows a lot of charlatans both artists as well as a connoisseurs. I think it should more appropriately called "Fool's Paradise".
