ricardojmendez 0 Posted August 5, 2002 Taken at early morning in some San Francisco docks for private boats. I'd love to hear your comments on the perspective, angle of the image, and whatever else you want to comment on. Cheers! Link to comment
zcreem 1 Posted August 5, 2002 It is a nice picture, I would crop right to the bench and rotate the image CCW a degree or so to bring the arms into the horizontal more, the softness of the image is nice but the colours are a little flat, just a little, maybe a little more contrast. Link to comment
dzhaughnne 0 Posted August 5, 2002 I understand Mark's suggestion and would be inclined to try it, but I think I might conclude that it's better as it is. I also like the colors; I might actually be inclined to play with her dress straps a little -- how often do you get the chance for *that* sort of double entendre? -- to bring the hue even closer to the blues in the sky. tim_vanblaricom 0 Posted August 8, 2002 Hi Ricardo, there are several things going on here that to my eyes, make this an average photograph (which there is nothing wrong with, lord knows I take my share!). First I agree with above about the flat light, for this picture I don't think it adds any positive aspect, the sky is boring to me, there is no definition in it, no charactor. I live near SF and this is a common occurance, a mix, if you will, between clouds and fog. I am detracted by the tilt of the bench, but I really don't like the way the masts 'grow' out of her arms. You have another shot with just masts, I was wondering how satisfied with it you were. I have shot, possibly in this same place, these sail boat 'forests' and while I was always excited about what I thought I was going to get when shooting, I've always been disappointed by the results. :-( Cheers. steveho 0 Posted August 10, 2002 I would crop out most of the bench. Having that much bench in the foreground weighs down the picture. Link to comment
daniel 0 Posted August 21, 2002 person and sailboats, the composition strikes me, i like the asymetric beach, and the almost symtric mastes, but not quite sharp Link to comment
