Although the day was bitterly cold and windy, the clouds were sharp and the sun stung the sky with rays like icicles.

I am always photographing the sky at different times of the year. I

find the sunsets in the Autumn and Winter to be the most brilliant.

Would anyone like to give me some criticism or comments on this work

I did? This was a bit of an unexpected shot, I never expected this

kind of drama to unfold. :)

I would like to thank you for your comment. However, I am going to argue the underexposure for two reasons. The first reason is differences in gamma among people . I went to two friends houses and saw my picture on their computer -- and it looked TERRIBLE! It was horribly overexposed on their monitors, and the whole effect of the beauty of the sunset was destroyed. There are even differences between Photoshop and the browser unfortunately -- even with color adaptation. Secondly, I made it underexposed slightly for another reason -- it plays up the sun more, and brings out the chilliness of the day. Maybe I should have noted that in my technical details beforehand.

Hi Laura. I really like the underexposure, I think it does bring out the sun and the clouds very well. I'm not sure about the huge dark area in the lower left though, a product of the underexposure perhaps?

sunsets are great but this one came alive and juped right off the screen at me. as to the compromise it seem like a good one. you get the best of both worlds.

Go with the Sunset Man's cropped version, Laura. That way it is a winner because the distracting dark areas are gone. I'd give 7s for that revised scan.

Laura, the sunset is really fantastic and I do agree with you that the effects of the clouds and sky colors during winter and autumn are always different of the other seasons of the year. The shot looks great except the corners which were darker than the other parts pf the photo. I do not know if this was caused by the vignetting but I hope that will help you to get the best shot for the great sunset at your sky. Great capture Laura.
