The tighter crop has its merits, for sure. But I am a big fan of the use of negative space, and the original post has a wonderful sense of balance because of the space on the right....

I am shooting for the square version myself. Funny, I was just looking at Yellow Cad http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=5550829 by Kent B which was a photo that you remarked on.

 

Your photo here is amazingly Bold and, what a incredible color splash. It reminds me of Kent's "Yellow Cad"
