sweeney 0 Posted January 31, 2008 In my opinion I don't like it when I see an image that I immediately know that the HDR technique has been used. They look fake. I think it is an overused/improperly used tool. I think this has a fake look to it. It doesn't look natural and I think you intended it to. I think HDR should be used to make subtle enhancement to capture the full range of available light but not much more. This is only my opinion. I think it could be toned down and be a great picture. I do like the subject matter but I am distracted by the overdone HDR. Link to comment
bmihalje 0 Posted January 31, 2008 Thanks for the comment! I also agree that I don't like overdone HDR but this subject matter "asked" for it. Just wanted to be a bit more dramatic and somewhat unrealistic. The HDR for some other shots I used subtly for ex: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6873734 Thans again for the comment! sweeney 0 Posted February 1, 2008 Bernard, the most important thing is that you like the way it looks. It's all a matter of opinion. I do like the other example you sent me to, and yes it is more subtle. I have found that HDR from one exposure tends to give more subtle results. Link to comment
belmagraphy 0 Posted February 2, 2008 i'd have to disagree. despite the overuse of HDR, the subject of this photo is great, particularly the barren trees growing out of the house. perhaps, you could've found a better angle to capture the true beauty of this scenery. well done, nonetheless.
