charles_hess2 0 Posted September 25, 2008 Selective coloring is a subjective thing and I'm not really a fan, but it works well with this one. The composition is strong, and I think this would be fine as a straight b&w. Good one. Link to comment
mbp 0 Posted September 26, 2008 i absolutely agree with you. at the time, i loved this picture and I thought the selective coloring was really cool... but now that I've looked at more photos and seen more styles, I think it's a bit presumptuous, actually, and I don't like selective coloring at all. i've left this photo alone, though, because at the time, this is what my "style" was, and I think it's important to leave it as it is so I can later look back and see how my techniques changed. looking back, I think this photo feels cramped. the subject is brushing right along the right side of the "frame," with no space to the right, and then you have very little room on the left side from the sculpture to the edge. I know that I took this photo very rushed, so I'm pretty pleased with it, even now, but I see this a lot differently than i did right after I took it. thanks for the comment. Link to comment
