lonebearimages 0 Posted January 28, 2008 You nailed this one! Perfect composition and exposure! You've got a terrific sky that complements the wide expansive Badwater basin. Good late-afternoon light too. I like this a lot! I was there for a dawn; completely different experience. Well done! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
jake_mcguire 0 Posted January 28, 2008 I have to disagree with the first comment. I think the composition could definately be improved. When I first looked at the photo my eyes were directed straight towards the boring center. That's because the decline of the mountains on the left and right directed my eyes towards the center. But there's nothing interesting there for me to look at. The foreground is good and the deep blue of the sky is great. I just think you could've taken a different approach to the composition that would allow the eye to flow to something interesting rather than a simple horizon. Just my two cents. Jake Link to comment
cityshapes 0 Posted January 28, 2008 thanks for the candid comments. I guess I found the setting memorable... it was the only place I've ever been where you can spin completely around and see nothing but expansive simple horizon. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 28, 2008 Trust me; there is absolutely nothing more you could have done to improve this. This really is a wonderful photograph. Nothing boring about the center of this shot; where you can see for 30-40 miles, all the way up to the Funeral Mountains. Jake will see someday himself, when he stands out in the middle of that part of Death Valley National Park. Nice work! Cheers! Chris Link to comment

skyjammer 0 Posted February 26, 2008 Thanks for the comment on my photo the other day. I really like the detail in this shot, especially in the sky. I do agree with the first poster. You nailed the exposure. Sure, a slight tweak to bring out the highlights in the sand just a 'leetle' more is possible, but not necessary. It's great the way it is. Plus, it's a landscape shot, with fore, mid & background all contibuting to the image. Oh, and there's nothing boring about the center! ;-) Regards, -Ade Link to comment
amysn 0 Posted July 31, 2008 I agree with Jake - super shot. Love the composition and do not find the middle boring. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted June 22, 2014 I crack myself up! Going through your images, I came across this one...opened it up and found that I'd commented on it in 2008. Well, my assessment then still applies now. I love it! I have been to Badwater myself and can tell you that you 'got' it with this image. Spot on! The comp and light are primo. Cheers!
