petemillis 0 Posted January 25, 2008 I have just finished servicing this snowboard today, and felt it warranted a photograph. Anyway, this was taken using the Arax tilt adapter with Vega 12b 2.8/90 medium format lens on the Canon 10D. The illumination was by way of a just a small LED torch with which I painted light over the board during the exposure of 10 seconds. The rest of the room was in darkness. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the use of the sepia tone for presenting this image. I'm kind of thinking that the modern snowboard and older look of the photo provide an interesting contrast. Does this work? Do the colour versions work better (please see in my folder called Still")? Many many thanks as always. Pete Link to comment
diggymacd 0 Posted January 25, 2008 I need a little more to go on to identify what this is. If it's just an interesting pattern, then I need more depth of field. Link to comment
petemillis 0 Posted January 25, 2008 Hi Doug. Thanks for taking the time to comment. There's not really much to identify here - it is just the base of a snowboard. I used the tilt lens to obtain sharp plane of focus from tip to tail (front to rear) of the board, while throwing off the focus on the other objects. The board is 162cm long, and using tilt is the only way to get focus along the whole length using the wide aperture of f2.8. The DOF from front to rear of the shot is actually very large. I know this sort of image doesn't work for everybody and I value hearing from those like you who feel it doesn't work, just as much as from those who feel it does. If you get the chance to look in my portfolio it'll maybe help put this image into context with the type of thing I'm working on at the moment. Thanks again. Pete Link to comment
