kellyphillips 0 Posted January 24, 2008 That guy makes that face with every layup. I have alot of pictures of him. These gyms I have to shoot in are so dark! It doesn't matter how much you pump up the ISO, the eyes are still dark because of the lights above them. I've tried using a little fill flash from my speedlight, but I don't like to. Did you shoot last night? Link to comment
will king 0 Posted January 24, 2008 I won't shoot the game until Saturday. I'm suprised they let you use flash. You're not allowed to use flash for Virginia HS sports. Link to comment
kellyphillips 0 Posted January 25, 2008 I really don't like to use flash. The gym I shot at Tuesday was so dark I thought that I would try a few with flash. I was only getting 1/320th, at f/2.8, and iso 3200. That is very dark. I didn't like the flash look so I just got what few shots I could without. Noise is not an issue when these are printed in the paper. ISO 3200 doesn't bother me, but the 1/320th part does. The action has to be frozen. I don't know how your mark3 handles focusing at larger than f/2.8, but my 40D doesn't like me shooting at f/1.8. The focus is ok at 2.8 but if I go any larger, the auto focus is slow and I get alot of back focus on the walls in the back of the gym. You have the option to go to iso 6400 without degrading the image too bad. I don't think there is any HS gym in the country that is darker than f/2.8 at 6400. As long as you can get 1/400th, you'll be fine. Don't be afraid of ISO 6400 to get a blur free shot. Link to comment
