My reaction was a sideways grin. I love the offbeat nature of this photo. The cat, sitting to perfectly pristine and white on lace. The tuba looming behind, typically regarded as an indelicate instrument. The pairing. Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton. Felix and Oscar. John Candy and Steve Martin...... This is where my head takes me in viewing this fine photo.

That cat could no more play the tuba than I can, I don't care what your brother says. Now an oboe...maybe. You really must develop a sense of humor, Dan, you're much too serious about things. And I notice recently an odd fixation with cats. Bad sign, bad signs.

Damn, I wish I'd kept that shot of the cat playing the tuba now, but frankly, it never occurred to me that anyone would doubt my veracity for an instant. Currently (1-26-08) only 24% of my photos on Photo.net are of cats. However, I'm going to try to increase that number soon! ;P

Jeff, I think you're on the mark--although I wasn't conscious of it at the moment of exposure. What happened was: the cat had been practicing all morning, filling the house with sound, and then she put the tuba back in the stand, and suddenly it seemed soooo quiet, and the light was nice and...click. Anyway, that's my story, and I'm sticking with it.
