bodyline 0 Posted January 17, 2008 nice composition, yhe lighting I find a little harsh. but certainly reminiscent of the 20's. Link to comment
jim wrightwood 0 Posted January 17, 2008 Harsh lighting was part of 20's photography, though probably not by design but limitations. This is a wonderful modern representation of that era. My only nitpick is I think there may be just a little too much blur on her right shoulder and arm. The sharpness of her garment below draws away from the reality of the effect in my opinion. Elstad 9 Posted January 19, 2008 Quite Lovely! The skin and especialy the face are remanisant of early Hollywood soft focus glamor shots... Link to comment
daniel_bottoms 0 Posted January 19, 2008 She is very surreal looking. I feel strongly the blurred right shoulder robs the image. Did you create the blur on her shoulder on purpose? She other wise looks amazing. Link to comment
benjaminarts 0 Posted January 24, 2008 A Sincere Thank You Everyone!!, for your comments. I am pleased that this image (On a Paris Eve) was overall a success for me and that many other photographers enjoyed viewing her. I am striving to create images that resonate with my photo.net worldwide audience. Because of so much talent on this site it is a real challenge to even get noticed. The two comments regarding the soft focus on Jade?s right arm confirms my thoughts as well. I had considered sharpening this area. I should have gone with my instincts. Now my big challenge is to at least try and equal this image with another. Again Thank You? all for taking your time to respond to (On a Paris Eve). Link to comment
jim wrightwood 0 Posted January 24, 2008 I as well find the talent on this site to be a little daunting at times. The constructive critiques I have received certainly reflect the quality of photographers here. The results are certainly worth the callenge in my opinion. Best regards, Jim Link to comment
benjaminarts 0 Posted February 13, 2008 Hi Edgar, that is a good and fair question. My intent in relisting was to try and rejuvenate interest in my portfolio. Last June I nearly deleted everything from my portfolio down from over 100 images to just a few. Six months later I began listing new images and soon realize I wasnt capturing very many viewers. This was when I first considered putting Eve back on and having her critiqued again. Was I taking a risk and would On a Paris Eve again be popular or was the past success just a fluke? Well, I can?t express how surprised I was to find out she was doing better than before and my real gain, and what I was hoping for, was the number of hits coming in across the board with my other portfolio images. In other words Eve had enough appeal to create a desire with viewers to open my portfolio and peruse my other images. In the future I will strive to create images that can equal or exceed EVE or, at least, that is my hope. That will be a real challenge and is also part of the enjoyment of photography i.e. the growing/improving as an artist through photography as my tool. I perused you portfolio as well and I find that you are diffently an artist. You have a quite a unique style, quite dreamy and imaginative. I hope that you keep posting. Sincerely, Ben Link to comment
