I like the rocks but I think the roots and branches make it too busy. I like the exposure in the fore ground but I think the mountain needs to be a little less exposed - burn it in a little maybe 2 stops.

Thanks for the feedback Greg, I pretty much agree with you. I didn't much care for the roots either, and the mountain and sky are a little too exposed. I still thought it was a worthwile shot otherwise. I will see if I can adjust the mountain/sky without darkening the foreground too much and post a new version.

Thanks again, Joe

Rick, it's actually the banks of the Puyallup River in Orting. Was just down there wandering around with my son. The area where this was taken isn't particularly scenic (especially the opposite direction of this photo), but the light and careful cropping of the scene turned it into something somewhat worthwhile. The Mountain always makes for a great subject, as it's always different depending on the light and location you view it from. It's an easy subject to overdose on photowise!

A beautiful image indeed. Congrats. I am comfortable with the image 'as is' but if you want to play with the light and dark as suggested by the other photographers, play with it with Photoshop CS2/3 Shadow/Highlight command.

That sounds good Tony, but unfortunately all I have at the moment is a copy of Elements 2 a friend burned for me. I'm still learning my way around that, not sure if there are similar options. If there are, I'll see if I can make adjustments. Don't have the extra cash for CS3 at the moment. Actually, I'll upgrade to a decent DSLR and some filters first when I have the funds! Maybe I can get my friend to burn me a copy of CS3!

Regards, Joe
