carlwakefield 0 Posted April 7, 2010 Excellent shot and masterfull use and control of lighting. Would be really interested to know how many light sources were needed to achieve this great shot. Well done Link to comment
raymondborg 0 Posted April 7, 2010 Very nice shot. You have mastered the lighting very well. Great detail even in the white dress. Congrats. Link to comment
Tom Wiggins Photography 0 Posted April 9, 2010 A very good photo, the light works well to bring out the texture on the dress fabric. Tom Link to comment
walter_strong5 0 Posted April 9, 2010 It has the look of a very professionally created portrait. I'll also give it high marks for creativity. Link to comment
fred_williams1 0 Posted April 9, 2010 For my eyes, the center of attention is the gown. It is wonderfully photographed and lighted. I find less to interest me with the model's face or hands and arms. Perhaps the suggestion of more detail in the model's hair would help. Link to comment

florin_coter 0 Posted April 9, 2010 Hi Alex,Gorgeous image, great photo! The dress got my eye in a wonderful manner. I had to make an effort to unfocus my eyes to be able to "look" at the whole. Here I have some little observation about the arms. They seem to be somehow strained by both the held objects and the position. Nevertheless, wonderful achievement.Florin. Link to comment

phil_burt 0 Posted April 9, 2010 Alex,The first thing that totally grabs me is the pose and then the dress. I look at these photos and their comments as a learning experience. After starring at the dress a long time it brings your eyes right up to the models beautiful cheek bones. The dark gray to black background works perfectly with this photo. The only critique, and who am I to do so is I don't know what it is she is holding in her hands. Overall it looks beautiful!Bravo ....phil bbenton, ky Link to comment

snapshooter 0 Posted April 9, 2010 I find no fault with the primary image but I can't say I like anything about adding the very distracting Text / Credits / ADVERTISING. That alone unbalances the composition. Sorry, Alex, but there's already too much advertising crammed in by this site, and it's probably playing a role in my judgment . I do think the image needs somewhat more space in the direction she's facing. Link to comment
keith_robinson 0 Posted April 9, 2010 After sharing some doubts with other contributors about the ambiguity of the objects in the hands (both "what?" and "why?") I am now conviced that this serves postively to increase the unambiguity of the presentation of the prime subject, the frock. A subtle trick that makes the image appear more thought provoking than it really is in promoting the key fashion item via a masterful photograph, technically and aesthetically. Link to comment
jim_rendant 0 Posted April 10, 2010 I agree the composition is heavy in the front 2/3's of the image but if this is to be an advertisement for someone ample space behind her. If it were in front it would appear as thought she was pushing it out of the way with her stomach.I like the lighting but while there is great detail in the dress, there would be more if you toned the brightest section of the dress down by 1/2 to 3/4 of a fstop in photoshop. The detail appears to be there but is slightly washed out.I love taking 3D objects and try to make them as 3D as possible utilizing a 2D printable medium. While there are some of those qualities there, I still feel very 2D while looking at it. I get a silhouette feeling from it specially from the angle of the face and the lighting of the hair.I do like the motion/flow of the arms and the overall composition. Link to comment

mark_fox2 0 Posted April 10, 2010 The Model is beautiful, has dominance in focus,is well lit there are No unexpected shadows, the details on the dress are beautiful and the Depth of field is excellent however there are several issue which relates to the pose of the model, the left hand gets lost in the background, the model appears to be doing a limbo dance and the pose makes the model appear to be flat breasted. a bare shoulder looks great, but a bare armpit WELL ! pfgbel 0 Posted April 10, 2010 Technically speaking, this is what I call a perfect mastering of the lighting in such a studio work, I find it perfect because you don't "see" the light, you even don't feel" it because it is reproduced as it was natural ! That's a master work... Then of course the very high definition of the dress and its details are remarquable, so much that it is difficult to the eyes to look somewhere else. My single regrets go for the hair and the gloves that are slightly too dark for my taste. Now the model and her attitude, very elegant even if a little too much "composed", the hands hold something unidentified that catches (my opinion) the attention too much, but globally the result is really excellent !! I see such an advertising on the right page (because of the type of framing of the subject) of a high class magazineCongratulations Alex, that's the kind of shot that makes you say "waaooow" ! A shot that many would like to be able to do (me included) but this requires a serious practice and solid knowledges in the lighting techniques !Great job and wonderful result ! (I admire ...in silence !)Pol Link to comment
jorismaasfotografie 0 Posted April 10, 2010 Amazing photo, very nice lightning. Only things i would mention is the lightning of the hair (i think it would add a lot if you can see more detail of the beautiful hair). Also, the commercial tekst in the picture does not add something at the picture imo, i would rather see it as a stand alone piece of art then just a picture in a glossy mag. Link to comment
clicknimagine 0 Posted April 10, 2010 love this image, but as it has been selected as photo of the week, so i am trying to place the positive as well as the negative side of the image:- positive:- 1. love the placement of the hands and body, 2. love the placement of light, 3. love the exposure, it is very much in control, 4. as a fashion photography, love the make up and dress too, 5. love the gray backdrop, negative:- 1. i can see there is apparent noise in the darker areas, 2. the text on the image is a bit distraction to me, 3. i also can not find much originality in this, although a beautiful photography, and obviously it is a task of a professional photographer and i am not to that standard, for the sake of discussion, i have participated for the first time, hope you all do not mind, 6/6 from me... stuartduffy 0 Posted April 10, 2010 This is an outstanding piece of work, I rated it 7/7. It checks the boxes for both the commercial field and the high fashion shot it undoubtedly is.I'd love to know the ISO, Exposure and speed of the shot!I'll need to update my studio photography but you would seem to be the person to beat!Huge thumbs up on your work of art!Stu Link to comment

paullink 1 Posted April 12, 2010 It's a brilliant photo Alex.Excellent light, not strong but enough to indicate any detail on the dress, it flatters also the nice skin of the female model. The pose is curious and sensual.Regards Link to comment
