mario2 0 Posted April 3, 2008 As a climber and as a mountain lover,I love this image; the option to include these three little wild mountain flowers adding aesthetic and fragility to this fantastic place.Without a doubt this is a very good landscape job!,Of course the green flora against the dark rocks with this brown water form a fantastic scene. The problem about the waterfalls shotting at low timming is not burn the water in this case the timming was acurate.Best regards Link to comment
kory1 0 Posted April 14, 2008 Maui has so many waterfalls, that many of them, like this one, are unnamed. I so named it because of the three purple flowers that were laying on the rock. To get this composition, I had to tip toe along the slippery side of the rock face, and hold some protruding branches back out of the frame while tripping the shutter. Shots like these show just how important having a professional tripod with independantly moving legs is; one of the legs was retracted all the way and pointing in an upward direction, another was extended all the way into the water, the other was horizontal to the ground attached to a small ledge on the sheer rock face. I used a polarizer to reduce glare and saturate the colors. I shot at 16mm and f/16 to get the shortest hyperfocal distance possible, making the shot in focus throughout, from the flowers only about three feet away all the way to the waterfall and beyond.
