katherineerickson 0 Posted January 6, 2008 Hi Jeff, Great shot! The light is incredible and presents all sorts of possibilities. I really like the composition you have used as it adds to the dreaminess of the image. I could stare at this for awhile and walk away feeling enlightened. If not for PN, 7/7. Best Regards Katherine Link to comment
iancoxleigh 0 Posted January 6, 2008 Powerful and evocative -- enough to momentarily make this atheist believe in ghosts and angels. I absolutely love your colour tone. A wonderful image all around! Link to comment
cjtj50 0 Posted January 6, 2008 This is Beautiful and so soft. The rays of light are captured so well! Take care Link to comment
godfather 0 Posted January 6, 2008 This is just far too good to view. Have to appreciate the fact that you got those rays captured this good. Blueish tone was a really good choise also. Ps. Rating policy wont work again... But if i say that this is one of my favourites i guess you get the point :) Link to comment
joe-tury 0 Posted January 6, 2008 Excellent view and tones.Because of the title, the implications behind the light source are obvious, and quite creative.Did you use blur at all or is this out of camera? Not a concern , just trying to learn. One of my favorites from your collection.Great job Jeff. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted January 6, 2008 Quite exquisite in all regards. The capture of the rays of light itself is strong and evocative. The blue tone adds to the otherworldly feel. What I find most outstanding is your choice of an angle above and askew to the window. Now I do suspect your options may have been limited in order to catch those rays in the way you have, but whatever the reason your perspective is what makes this truly angelic. Link to comment
vicenteconcha 8 Posted January 6, 2008 Fantastic, the light dominated by imagination, the best artistic sense. Congratulations. Vicente. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted January 7, 2008 Paul: I'm glad you liked this and it caught your attention. Katherine: Enlightened is such a nice word. Thanks. Joke: Howdy. I appreciate your comment. Mehmet: It was hard thinking of something to go along with this title without being trite. Thanks for your thoughts. Ian: Sometimes we make our own miracles. Thanks for your kind comment. Cynthia: I'm so glad you liked this one. Tero: The rays are a take-off of your and Gordon's motion studies. Thanks. Joseph T: Regarding the PS work, let's just say that this was a little augmented. Thanks for motivating us all with your song title idea. Gordon: This is the window in our tiny stairwell, which if captured just at the right angle gets a nice stream of light. Thanks for your thoughts, which are always so nicely said. Joseph P: Hey, glad to see you around. Vicente: Thanks for your thoughts. I found your recent backlit flowers to be inspiring. cherlyn 1 Posted January 7, 2008 Creative interpretation of the title. The angelic path created by the rays of light is really surreal. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted January 7, 2008 You know how I feel about most titles. LOL. As soon as I saw this, it stood out to me from your recent postings as a most harmonious use of your tools. It seems to me totally unself-conscious. Like the technique simply IS the photo, belongs to the expression, and harmonizes with the emotions. This photo feels more like a gesture and less like a plan. The perspective, as mentioned, is radically effective. I wanted to call this image evocative, but I've been using that word too much lately so I got out my thesaurus. The two synonyms that struck me, in oddly different ways, were "redolent" and "ambrosial." Ambrosial, who woulda thunk? But it fits, partially. And redolent is the part that takes it that next step, that leaves unanswered questions and stories to come. Your play with light and blur is, simply, expressive. In the best sense of the word. It's not so much that you've expressed something with the light. It's that you've expressed light with focus. And you've given substance to that light. It is thick. Now, as for the devil. He's hanging up there in the moody corner for me, waiting to pounce. I see a sort of yin and yang in both your composition and your coloration and light. The angle of the window is almost Hitchcockian, menacing. The light is warm below -- setting up a more horizontal and soothing geometry than the more off-balance angle of the window -- and intimidating above. For me, that cold, glowing, deep blue on the upper molding is downright menacing. I think I see ghosts, not angels. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 7, 2008 Jeff, this is such an angelic/angle. The rays of light entrance through the window are so unusual, ethereal in its form and spread, with the tones and nuances of blue, very dark behind the window, like entering from some outer space.... affecting the mysterious feeling it evoks.Really unusal image, very well presented. jeffl7 0 Posted January 7, 2008 Jack: I dragged this out of the bin mostly in response to your previous comment about magic and light. See, I listen... (don't tell my wife). Mary: Thanks for your comment about choices. That's the hardest thing about this particular hobby. You can take a million photos, but love only a few. Hard choices. Umair: Hi. Haven't see you around for awhile. I've gotta hop over and see what you've been up to. Cherlyn: Thanks. My shots lack the grandness of your recent ones. This feels like trying to trap the divine in a bottle. Alina: I appreciate your thoughts (so does the angel). Teresa: Now, if I could get an angel to appear in a glass of water.... Fred: Redolent? Ambrosial? I was simply going for resplendent, but perhaps I overshot. I've never imagined the sudden appearance of an angel to be comforting. In fact, in biblical situations, an angel's materialization often produced fright and confusion, rather than peace. I didn't want this shot to be a sweet (trite) production, and I racked my brain trying to come up with something fairly unique. I always enjoy your take on things. Nothing beats a devil with a good vocabulary. Pnina: Thanks. I love your poetic review. Link to comment
