ronald_capasso 0 Posted January 5, 2008 This is an attempt at capturing an image using hdr. This is three images blended and coverted to bw using bw layers in cs3. Comments appreciated, Ron Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted January 5, 2008 WOW!, this has to be one of the best B&W renderings I've ever seen on this site, beautiful range of tones throughout, I am truly jealous that you shot this and not me LOL, would love to hear how you processed this. Congrats, I don't usually give out ratings anymore, but for this.....7/7! Link to comment
ronald_capasso 0 Posted January 5, 2008 As I wrote this started as an hdr blend of 3 images. I used photomatix Pro software. I have had better luck with this software than the standard issue in photoshop. I am a novice to say the least so I tend to get a little confused with all the options in the program. I converted the image to bw using bw layers in photoshop cs3. In the pull down menu I used green filter and just tweaked it till it looked good to me. I then sharpened locally using a sharpening brush by nik software. Now I'm confused and I did it. Hope this answers some questions. Ron Link to comment
stephenfenech 0 Posted January 5, 2008 Simply wanted to second the above comments - all the necessary requisites are here; excellent tones, clarity, detail, depth of field, etc? an image worthy of all praise and credit. A sincere 'Well Done'. Link to comment
Lou_Meluso 266 Posted January 5, 2008 Nice treatment, Ron! The drama of the sky knocks this up to the next level. Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted January 5, 2008 Well you should make note of that process, because it worked brilliantly, amazing! Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted January 19, 2008 This is a big-time 'genius' shot; and superb post-processing. I really like the tonal range you've achieved; and I surmise it is because of the expansion you got with the multiple exposures. Maybe there's more to HDR than I thought. You know what a crazed guy I am for mono; and man-o-man this is one sweet image! Terrific work, Capasso! Now, can you do it again? LOL! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 28, 2008 Ronald, thanks for your comment that brought me here...I have friends at Point Reyes Station, and I was there some years ago.It is a beautiful conversion to B/W, and very well composed with many nuances. I like the way the diagonal fence has a diagonal " answer" in the sky. Many beautiful works in your portfolio! Link to comment
