Guest Guest Posted January 4, 2008 That's a very overt manipulation of the image, but I think it works well, actually, because the subjects don't feel manipulated at all. The angled composition gives the picture a nice visual tension that is further complemented by the square highlight. If there was just the square highlight, the image would feel gimmicky and weak, but because it's a well composed and exposed image to begin with, it doesn't have that association to my eye. It is overt enough that I would only use it sparingly, but this is, obviously, a single photo, and I think it's an effective technique here. Link to comment
glenn norris 0 Posted January 4, 2008 I like the technique you used here, it is used often and can be nice used sparingly. My only critique then is that the square seems a little small and is noticeably chopping the mans head in half. Take care. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 4, 2008 Cropping the photo down to just the square wouldn't work, but a really small square has a great effect in my opinion, I think it actually works well very little. Link to comment
