kahkityoong 0 Posted January 6, 2008 Fantastic shot. The cloud motion makes this a killer image. I would crop the foreground. Link to comment
alextremps 0 Posted January 7, 2008 Good picture! I had clipped the image to the central rock a little more. High Definition and brilliant light Link to comment

dacamera 0 Posted January 17, 2008 Hi John, This was taken in Orkney which is a group of small(ish) islands a few miles out from the north coast of Scotland. Simon Link to comment
marksnelson 0 Posted January 18, 2008 Indredible landscape, perfectly catpured. I love what the slow shutter speed has done to the water and the sky...and what an amazing piece of coastline! Link to comment
jeanette 0 Posted January 24, 2008 Wow, this is so nice, i just love that rock. And still.. the colors/texture of the sky give some sense of unnatural. But still, great shot Link to comment
anhaga 0 Posted February 14, 2008 Superb sense of place and time, the foreground and pillar so grounded and the water and clouds telling a different story. For me, however, the best part of this is the visible submerged part of the pillar, which is so, so inviting amongst that blue. Wonderful sense of mystery around that base. Agreed with David - a quick resize saves anyone getting their grubby hands on a useable image, and you could fit it into one webpage without having to scroll down and lose a sense of the bigger picture... dacamera 0 Posted February 17, 2008 Thanks James I shall heed your warning. I am glad you like the underwater detail, that's my favorite part too! Funnily enough you couldn't see that at the time, the long exposure has ironed out the surface and made the seabed visible. Simon Link to comment

geoffs 0 Posted February 24, 2008 I think you have the composition right ! Love the foreground as it leads my eye all the way in.I would have lightened the sky some. This is dramatic and sublime. regards Geoff Link to comment
kurt2006 0 Posted April 30, 2008 You sure received many comments on this wonderful shot. Some of the comments have come from very excellent photographers, so I find it hard to argue with their cropping suggestions. Cropping is always something that I struggle with; however, I keep in mind what I myself am trying to do with the image, and retaining this much foreground, which I often do, works in my mind to bring the scene right up to my feet. This exhilarates me and brings me into the image. You have a lovely photograph by cropping both FG and some of the sky, of course, but I hope you just consider what it is that YOU like. I am also interested in the comment about 650 pixels and little thieves making postcards :( Best wishes to you, Simon. Keep up the amazing work. This one really captures my imagination. dacamera 0 Posted May 3, 2008 Thanks for the comment Kurt.I think you have encapsulated my own feelings well. I had a very strong feeling of being right on the edge when I took this, I wanted to give the impression that if you crept forward about three inches the view of the void would make your head spin, losing the foreground took away that edgy pull of the chasm for me.
