gordonjb 10,860 Posted January 19, 2008 A very powerful image. I love the film grain and the slightly murky overall greyness of the shot. It seems so appropriate for a train yard. The stoic yet dreamy expression is terrific and really makes this one. My only little nit would be that you have a few flecks of dust on your neg showing up on the side of the boxcar above your fathers left arm. The perspective has a tendency to make it appear that your father is pullover the train over on its side, I'm not certain if this is intentional or not. A great shot and taking a quick first look at your portfolio makes it obvious this is only one of many strong B&W images. Link to comment

ray . 58 Posted October 4, 2010 Not sure if it's posed or not, but definitely a cool shot. Link to comment
starvy 7 Posted November 22, 2010 I just came across this picture through a posting you made about shooting in London. I really like it. It does have a dated feel about it and originally, I thought it might have been from the early part of the 19th century although perhaps it is from a little later. Photography is all about capturing the moment but when that moment signified movement, the result is a more pleasing and meaningful exposure. Thanks for sharing this picture. Link to comment
jim_j2 9 Posted January 25, 2011 I like the "seriousness" in his expression, . . . and the concentration on the "task at hand." Rail Yards can be a dangerous place.A treasured photograph certainly!Regards,Jim j. Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted December 10, 2011 A fabulous image - almost reminds of a TV actor. Well done! Link to comment
sarah_fox 4 Posted April 23, 2012 I love this photo. I'm also envious, because I wasn't smart enough to photograph my dad at work while he was still alive. Instead, I have lots of meaningless shots of textures of concrete and such. Congratulations on knowing what's important to photograph! Link to comment
williams_gallery 0 Posted March 19, 2013 This is a perfect photograph - the pose, the light, expression, the printing - well done! Link to comment
andresfaya 0 Posted January 4, 2015 Great image from all perspectives.I like how you let the whites and the blacks take the viewer to the stern face of concentration. The DoF also works very well. Link to comment
