blowingsky 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Definitely caught my eye. However, on second look, I regret the absence of grain texture. To the degree that the sand has been manipulated, it kind of becomes something else...an abstract perhaps. Maybe its the monitor resolution, but it looks like the dune was selectively edited. For example the front most lip of the dune cleft looks blurred, the shadows in front of it lack the definition of the shadows inside the cleft (and all shadows on the surrounding sand seem to be expressed in a different context. The photograph is elegant and sensual and the little track on the left is a clincher. But ultimately it looks like CGI reality (to me) . But I think you'll turn a lot of heads anyway. Link to comment

davidclapp 0 Posted January 3, 2008 lovely sensual shapes, I like the "I regret the absence of grain texture" comment, I would love to see a camera that could resolve that much detail!! Well done Jane, very interesting. I must do 'sand' soon. Link to comment
jcg23 0 Posted January 3, 2008 Hi The photoshop is on a central lump of the dunes under the crest where there was some mucky looking sand. The area that you refer to on the first curve is untouched. I think the lack of detail is due to the smoothness of the sand in the drop off area under the dune crests and the light blowing out the detail. I also extended the background using the transform tool. I would normally like to enhance sand texture by using good contrast but in this image I have not given the texture much emphasis to give more of an abstract feel. Thanks for your comments Jane Link to comment

sv solomon photography 0 Posted July 13, 2008 I love the softness and the lines of this photo. Good composition and Color is nice too! Feels like a big world with the presence of the footprints near the ridge. Like it a lot!!! Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted September 16, 2008 Excellent image with beautiful abstract feel, Jane! It looks like you visited Death Valley National Park twice all the way from England in three years. Death Valley is my favorite destination for my photography. You can see many images I made there in my portfolio. Warm regards. Link to comment
