I love this shot. It's a "guy" super-photo! Dark,mysterious...The anonymous face and deep shadows really puts the Edge on it. Wish it were me but I'm way too ugly to pull a shot off like this...and not yet adept enough to take one of this depth either....yet. Aspire to(wards) Greatness, yes? Thanks

..well almost. Very cool photo...a touch more partial and soft lighting on some of the (your?) right eye would add to this mystery of The Smoking Man-e.g. more prompt for the viewer readily inclined as it is, to yet moreso, lean in for an even closer look perhaps in hopes of learning more about this mysterious man-from my perspective anyway.

No idea how old you are but dating myself I'll briefly tell you about where this picture took me. Don't know if you remember or otherwise ever heard of George Finelle (sp? on his last name). He was in radio, primarily, for years in the Boston Mass. area. He used to host an overnight

show on tv (pre cable days) when the only channel

to be had in Boston was the one after Carson was over. The 5-all-night-live-all-night show was the only tv he ever did so far that I know. It featured an old movie a night for 'night owls' and in between commercials host-George would come on the air in shadow. He talked low, while smoking often enough (yes that was ok then too) and sat near a flood light hardly near him and just casting enough light on his form. Looming in darkened light he half sat on a bar stool adorned w/a large brimmed cowboy hat that hid much of his face naturally. In a very low toned whispery voice he would recant factoids about the movie & celeb/star in same etc...And yes as a young kid staying up way too late I guess, I would lean in to the tv screen till I couldn't go any further without knocking the tv over were it not one of those big old consoles.

Suffice it to say aside from my flashback here

thankfully I kept in mind I need to save up for a new camera not a new monitor-thus the one I'm looking at remains in tact thankfully. Perhaps

you should scratch my initial comment come to think of it. In this illusion thanx for the memories and in advance for your indulgence for my long comment. Nice shot!

I was browsing through my highest rated pictures for the first time. Found out I had been too generous in some cases. This picture however, The Smoking Man, I really found a lot better than almost all the others, being on par only with http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1323358 (Sara by Emil Schildt)

. So I change my rating into 7/7. Excellent picture in all ways.
