rkyobo 0 Posted December 29, 2007 I love this shot! The glare from the sun is well-shown in this one. Very eye-catching! Good work! Link to comment
stevenwalker 0 Posted December 29, 2007 As Joy said the sun glare stands out which is great and really makes an already impressive shot that bit more special! Great work! Steven W. Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted December 29, 2007 Well done, Daily. Nice composition and a magnificient landscape. I usually consider lens flare a mistake, but here, it is interesting, especially the part downwards from the sun. I guess it it is almost unavoidable when you have sun in the frame. I attach the flare itself, works for me as an abstract. Best wishes. Peter Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted December 30, 2007 Daily, I like the landscape, and the flur adds to the beauty.as usual well done. I don't mind which lens did it, I mind the result! ;-)) Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted December 30, 2007 That string of flares is most lovely & strking against the cool snow landscape. Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted December 30, 2007 Daily, again your fine sense of humor :-)). I'll start, perhaps someone else will guess. Canon currently markets 66 lenses. You have a full frame sensor, so you do not use EF-S lenses. Number of aperture blades in your lens is 6. We are down to 10 lenses now. It is difficult to count the groups/elements from the flare - but I would guess it is 12, but I may be wrong. Assuming I am not - three lenses left. Now the hard part. Just guessing that this was not a wide angle shot. You needed an all-around lens not to carry a lot of heavy stuff with your 1.5 kg camera body in the mountains. So my guess is EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM**. Link to comment
daily_photograph 0 Posted December 30, 2007 clever start! But why do you think that my lens park does consist exclusively of Canon lenses? And additionally a bad news: You could not know that this is a crop - from a wide angle shot! :-)) Link to comment
atanu_ghosh1 0 Posted December 30, 2007 excellent shot...the lens flare works well here... Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted December 30, 2007 Well :-( Next guess: Sigma 12-24 F4-5.6 EX DG Aspherical HSM ? Link to comment

PeterKrenek 26 Posted December 30, 2007 Daily, it is clear from the photo of the sun that your lens aperture has 6 blades. You indicated a wide lens and not a Canon. Thus I looked at Tamron and Sigma lenses. Neither wide-angle Tamron has a 6-blade aperture. Then there are only four Sigma lenses with six-blade apertures. I excluded "10-20 f4 EX DC" because it is dedicated to small sensors. I also excluded "4.5 mm F2.8 EX DC Circular Fisheye" and "8 mm F3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye", as I found the presented crop unlikely to be coming from a circular fisheye shot, so the only wide angle lens was my above guess... Oddly enough, it has 12 groups of optical elements... I was considering to buy this lens a few years ago, but finally decided for the Canon 17-40 f/4L. So now for a few days before you move on to another week and delete this post, your Equipment is not "Unknown" :-)) Thank you for the prize, I am very pleased to be able to remain a Photo.net subscriber for another year. Best wishes. Peter Link to comment
