In the public square (Gum print)
Gum print. In this ancient technique, you mix Potassium Dichromate (an UV sensitive chemical) with Gum arabic and watercolour paint, brush it on watercolour paper, let it dry, then expose it as a contact print in the open shade for 20-30 minutes, then "develop" it in cold water for 15 more minutes. Here, a 4x5 negative was made from a 135 one. Uncropped. Uploaded July 25, 2002.
