Thank you so much Maria, Richard and Shawn for your visits. Nice to hear from you all.

Yes, Shawn it is the prettier of our two bird feeders at the cottage. They are very busy and appreciated, especially in the winter. We go through lots of sunflower seeds!!!

I love this shot! We really enjoying feeding our feathered friends, too. It's amazing the variety we get at our feeder! Never seen one quite as pretty as yours, though. Nice shot with both birds facing opposite directions. The light on the feeder is perfect as well. Nice!

I like the "painterly" description...they posed perfectly for you! Lovely.

Thank you Leslie and Kim for stopping by and commenting. I took many shots of these birds and managed to get only two worth while. A lot of patience was needed by the photographer and tolerance on the part of the birds. I guess they were hungrier than they were scared of me. We only ever saw these birds in the winter. I don't know why. The male is a gorgeous red and never came to the feeder, he ate the seeds fallen on the snow. The ladies were bolder:-)

This is a pretty shot. Do you have a lot of snow up there? We had about an inch over night ... it looks pretty. Happy New Year to you!

Yes we have tons of snow up here. I believe they reported that we haven't seen this much snow fall in December since 1983. Don't quote me on this but it's been a while. We're up past 4 feet and counting!!! Of course some of it melted but it's snowing now and we have a couple of inches since early this morning. So glad you stopped by!

Kim, I like the softness of colors, there is a nice harmony in this composition.

Happy harmony in 2008 Kim!
