mikestacey 0 Posted December 23, 2007 Nearly didn't take this as it is a bit too obvious but I liked thelight and also the shape of the treeline against the shape of the pieritself. Comments welcome. Link to comment
mrdavson 0 Posted December 23, 2007 I really like the lighting aswell as the overall composition. The jetty wraps around to the middle to bring the eye over the whole photograph. Link to comment

paolo de faveri 1 Posted December 23, 2007 Fortunately, you decided to take it! And, for my personal taste, this is the best one of the series from this location. The deep fog and perhaps the rain (was it raining, right?) adds a lot of mood to the scene. The pier almost seems to be hovering above the surface of the lake. Also the large grey portion of sky makes sense, because of the pronounced vignetting. Definetely a great shot! Paolo P.S. I wrote you an e-mail some a week ago, did you find it? Would you please let me know in the case you didn't, by writing me a private mail so that I can write you back privately Cheers Mike, And Merry Christmas of course! Link to comment
richard van hoesel 0 Posted December 30, 2007 Mike, these recent B&W images are really coming together very nicely. Whilst as you say this is perhaps a slightly obvious image, the light and tonal range here are beautiful and set it apart from most variations on this theme. I also like the alignment of the bend in the jetty between the headlands, but can't make up my mind about the tighter spacing in that region in context of the large open areas elsewhere. That contrast seems to introduce tension that may be at odds with the gentle light, but at the same time adds interest to the composition. Link to comment
mikestacey 0 Posted January 1, 2008 Thanks Richard, Paolo and all. Many of these are still "testing the waters" but will hopefully lead somewhere. Link to comment
