Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 25, 2007 This one has certainly evoked a multitude of assosciations. But that's what good art does, it triggers the imagination which is often sorely in need of stimulation. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 26, 2007 I find this a very strong image both compositionally and for the psychological evocation. My mind can go many places with the women in shadows, above and larger than the man. The womens stance casual and the mans stance rigid and tightly drawn in.The upright bar on the stage dividing the man from the women the shadow from the light, I love this type of image and you are a master at evoking mystery and mood. From a compositional point of view I was originally wishing this was cropped on the right just beyond the two brighter stage lights and before the dim lights and the prop case on the floor. My feeling being that these other objects ground the image and put it back onto the stage, when I would rather the image remain more mysterious. However the more I look the less certain I am about this notion and in some ways grounding the shot adds another layer of complexity. A wonderful play of darkness and light, mystery and revelation. pnital 36 Posted December 26, 2007 Thanks for your evaluation of your feelings(It is the way I like it...;-)). I thought about cropping it, and decided not too. The reason is, the RED lights, that illuminates the dancer's face and cloths, are adding to the dramatic mood of the psychlogical situation .... So the white lights are lighting the physical scene, and the red the emotional..., I think that you came to a similar conclution, Don't you? Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted December 26, 2007 Yes, you have put into words what I felt but was not able to explain. It is emotion and passion which the red lights express. Link to comment
