Fawn

Fawn was resting on a sidehill, just off wood's trail.

I think this is a great environmental portrait here. It's really evident how well camo works with animals in their environment. However, on my monitor it looks like a really bad scan. All my contrast is lost. So all I can really comment on is the composition.. and I think its really cool.

Tony, this is a beautiful shot of a fawn. As Stephanie points out, it does blend well with the background, as it should, and I wish I knew how to make an image like this "pop" a little. Unfortunately, my shots of this type have the same problem. It appears that the shot was cropped too closely at the bottom and on the right, leaving out a little of the tail and legs. Otherwise, the composition works well, with the head in a good rule of thirds position. The colors are very good and the exposure seems just right. Good job!

I agree with Stephanie and John's comments. I think this is a neat shot and really does illustrate the camo effect. If not for that, I would consider it a bit busy. I wonder if having greater DoF would add to the sense of the fawn's blending into its environment. Nice shot!!
