dnimey 0 Posted December 16, 2007 Jan, thanks for stopping by. Trying to get out of run of photo-block so I figured trying something different is the way. thanks for the encouragement! Link to comment
ckuhn55 0 Posted December 16, 2007 Wonderful Idea I would crop out the tree upper right corner or move it so it doesn't have the boarder running thru it. TFS Link to comment
terrygilroy 0 Posted December 16, 2007 Excellent, looks like an old parchment. I like it (agree about the tree though) best wishes Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted December 20, 2007 Seek and ye shall find. And have found in this case. Original idea, strikingly executed. I like this very much. Even the signature! ps: the upper right tree is fine as is. Link to comment

dokordave 0 Posted December 28, 2007 Picked up the camera myself the other day. I am still on my prescription of "block-b-gone" and it seems to be working, but these things take time. I really like this image. I think the tree in the background really belongs "in frame" as Chuck mentioned, but the overall concept and composition is excellent. Seeing your work & you back in the mix is great. Take care Dave Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted January 7, 2008 Wonderful image - the crumpled paper effect is a delight. Link to comment
bertr 0 Posted January 20, 2008 Seeing this image, the first thought which came to my mind: "Oh good, somebody rescued a beautiful drawing which the artist, in frustration, had crumpled up and discarded. But, along came Dana, smoothed it out, and preserved it for posterity." Great job, Dana....Bert Link to comment
dnimey 0 Posted January 20, 2008 Thank you Bert. I would do that if I were to find a painting in that situation to be sure! Link to comment
mark_starr 0 Posted August 15, 2008 This is a great treatment for this image - the texture you have added is wonderful, and perfect for this very clean and simple image. I agree with Jack - keep the tree on the right - very nicely done- Mark Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted May 14, 2009 Dana, This is such an obvious departure for you...and I believe, a good one. Not to say that I didn't/don't enjoy many of your photographs...because they are such a wonderful collection of pictures that document the important people and places of your life. This photograph seems to be the first "fine art" photograph I've seen from you. What I like about It goes far beyond the PS treatment. I'm speaking of the fact that you've depicted the Old Tree as a piece of living sculpture...as it is. It remind me of a scripture (can't remember where it's found) in which someone states, "I see men as trees walking...". The tree...reminds me of a man. And this seems to me...to be a portrait of a man...a tree. This of course, is just how I see it. But whatever your personal vision was...it seems clear to me that you've gone past seeing the literal translation of the tree...and you've seen and captured something much deeper and more dramatic. And even if you had no conscious vision when it comes to this photograph...I believe that sub-consciously...a vision emerged. I hope that you choose to press into this new horizon...but that's perhaps just a selfish wish! I'd just like to see more! Yet...I think you've broken some new ground...that you might just reap some real benefits from exploring. Your friend...JG Link to comment
