This is amazing, Jay. It's the most bizarre compilation of elements, yet its beauty is in its ultimate simplicity. The extraordinarily shallow depth of field, with very sharp focus on the branches just left of center and everything else being so far out, and the out-of-focus water droplets (?)...all in all a beautiful and mystifying abstraction (thankfully explained in your title). Open it for rating so I can give it a pair of 7s!

Tim's right--this is really extraordinary: stunningly beautiful shapes, textures and tones!

I don't know how much pp you've put into it already but, to the eye of this compulsive cropper, it has the feel of an uncut diamond. That is, it may, in fact, be a bit too rich in interest to be digested whole. If it were mine, I'd spend weeks trying different crops: I can imagine coming out with three or four stupendous versions.

This is not to say that it is 'flawed' as is. It might be lightened just a notch but with all that's going on, it just requires time and extended contemplation on the part of the viewer. I'd think the best format for the uncut version is large--really large.

Congratulations on a really magnificent capture!

Really unique vision, and a fine composition. This actually looks like a snow storm and a island of trees in the middle of it. But after all, which snow storm has a clear sky in the background, i just like to think things otherwise. Thanks for sharing us your unique vision.

Best regards Tero

This is a truly amazing photo! The words above certainly could not be matched by my simple comments, but I love this!

Hi Jay,

It was worth grabbing and and you did a good job...my wife paints like this. I shoot things that I like and hope that others will too.

..as far as cycles are concerned..I followed/supported my son through his youthful racing on the road in Switzerland and then later the World Cup downhill circuit as much as possible...very exciting hobby.

regards,

Bob
