zigzag 0 Posted December 15, 2007 There is some nice horizontal layering through the photo. The cold blue middleground tone is nice. Silhouette framing is a good idea but just a tiny bit of detail would be nice. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted December 15, 2007 This is such a difficult image to capture because of the very large range of light; the foreground still needs more, and the mountain top has too much. A strong GND filter is needed, or this is where layers taken at different exposures can be put to good use. I've taken photos in this area, and I'm always impressed at how bright the snow is; I usually (and unintentionally) overexpose that area. Link to comment
httpwww.photos.netphot 0 Posted December 15, 2007 I agree Stephen, I wish I had gotten more light and detail in the foreground, and yes, the sky and Mountain are a little too light. I had to shoot fast though, The Mountain was totally enveloped seconds later. I can see where a GND would come in handy to even things out. Unfortunately, all I am working with at this point is a Fuji F30 p&S. My ambition far outstrips my budget right now. I look forward to the day when I can afford to upgrade to something more substantial! And oh yeah, you're also right about the brightness of the light reflecting off Rainier's glaciers!
