Waking Up (Softly)

As throngs before me have said, you have captured a precious moment with a warm and direct expression. The eye is, of course, the key here, with the composition and pout of lips as supporting cast. There is such clarity and connection. I think among the cameras most important uses are these shots that will last in family albums for generations to come, enabling us to make real our greatest memories and even moments, as for this child, we won't remember but will get to see through pictures and stories.

 

The bottom left corner does distract me. It looks like some sort of digital processing occurence, probably due to an originally heavy shadow. I do find it invading the charm of this sensitive and lovely photo.

Joseph, have followed your work ever since you joined p/n. Your portraits just stand out and have brought me much pleasure, have three different ones in my minds eye that I can recall clear as a bell, that to me is the sign of a great image. Would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas and fantastic 2008. All the best.......roger
