kahkityoong 0 Posted December 12, 2007 Here's the horizontal version. I didn't quite get the same alpen glow as in the vertical version but the composition is arguably better balanced. Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted December 12, 2007 Kah Kit, I guess I like both. This one is indeed better balanced, but the vertical version has the glow on the mountains and more warm colors in the clouds. This would be great to see in a larger version. Best wishes. Peter Link to comment
aviro 0 Posted December 14, 2007 Excellent photograph. I could almost feel that moment. :) Link to comment
anhaga 0 Posted December 21, 2007 Hi Kah, Just a quick question - why would you say this is the better balanced version? It seems like the furthest left-hand tree, combined with the edge of the mist-patch, blocks off the left side of the photograph, where there isn't much to break the snow-iced forest in any case. Everything of interest is in the right 2/3rds. Having looked at the vertical version, I'd have said that was the stronger arrangment, and obviously has the better light as well. I'd just be interested to know your thoughts! Thanks, and congratulations on your talent and progression - you've got an inspiring portfolio behind you. James Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted December 24, 2007 James, this may have a better foreground to frame ratio than the vertical. Also there are numerous triangles formed by foreground, trees, clouds and mountains that harmonize well. Link to comment
richard van hoesel 0 Posted December 31, 2007 I too like this one better than the vertical version, mainly because of the playful diagonals and also simply because there is more for the eye to explore. However, I also agree with some of James' comments about the tree on the left. Although the arrangement nicely uses the tree to delineate the various diagonals, I find myself wanting to take a step to the right to see behind it. Link to comment
