henryclicks 0 Posted December 9, 2007 Nice colors and good idea actually. you had tough time keeping the wheel straight? looks like you under some crazy currents... BTW.. which car? Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted December 9, 2007 Looks great, like something that should be in a car commercial. Link to comment
nickwalton 0 Posted December 9, 2007 Hi Henry, Thank you, I tried to introduce movement in this shot (I tried a number of things) but I felt moving the hands and wheel slightly gave more feel to the shot and the light trails were more "ziggy". The car is an Audi TT - My wifes car - she wasn't too keen on me trying this !! Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted December 10, 2007 I'd say a success for an "experiment", that's for sure. Really nice work keeping the car in focus and sharp compared to all those great lights and the blurred hands. Cool shot! Link to comment
terry foster 0 Posted December 10, 2007 I like this alot Nick, great colours, and blur in the lights, did you set the camera on a tripod, and use the timer to trigger it? Link to comment
nickwalton 0 Posted December 11, 2007 Hi Terry, Yes I used a tripod, secured with the seat belt and used a cable release. Nick Link to comment
fernando monreal 0 Posted December 11, 2007 It is very well done, an idea that i often whant to try but i never done, you do it and the results are very good. f. Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted December 12, 2007 I think this is a great picture that just came up a little short from being exceptional, my only problem is with the steering wheel and hands, if you can get them to be more still, IMHO you'll nail it! Link to comment
bradford 0 Posted December 12, 2007 Yes, I think that the movement would then be more interesting outside the car, rather than in. Good luck and keep photographing! Link to comment
nickwalton 0 Posted December 14, 2007 The Problem with the hand movement is that its difficult to keep driving for 30 secs without moving the hands - particularly on the local road system which is quite windey - I don't fancy trying this on the motorway, besides I wouldn't get the light colours. I may try again with fill in flash, but the set up would be critical as its difficult to review the results whist driving. Cheers everyone for your observations and keep them coming as its only from critiques that my work has improved. My question is do you think the composition would be improved by rotating CCW slightly ? (I have a bit extra to work with in the RAW) Cheers Nick Link to comment
dhw 0 Posted February 10, 2009 Love the car. The Audi TT is a blast to drive. I also enjoyed the photo. I don't mind the hands in motion. dhw Link to comment
johnw63 0 Posted February 10, 2009 Perhaps if you keep your right hand down at the bottom of the wheel, to do the REAL steering and your left hand at the close edge of the wheel for show, and keep it as still as possible, you might be able to pull this off. It still looks like some ones ued a pack of neon magic markers on the back ground. Very cool. Link to comment
