lizweisiger 0 Posted November 29, 2007 Whatever the meaning, I love this image because it is sort of thought provoking. Maybe it is the title, or the tone or the composition. Don't know, but I like thinking about it. Link to comment
mwaks 0 Posted November 29, 2007 I don't know about this guy Ben? ......but this is a great piece of work. I'd like to see more with this technique. ......and know about how you do it. Link to comment
darinheinz 0 Posted November 29, 2007 This image has a great feeling attached to it. The very cool-toned monochrome works well to underscore this aspect. The atmospheric conditions were just about perfect, as well, and the apparent use of time exposure adds to the softness. Exposure looks like it was spot-on, and the contrast is well-done, though I'd like to see just a *little* bit more shadow detail on the foreground wall at image left. Your sense of composition is right on the money here; shooting from a low viewpoint, creating converging lines leading to the cityscape in the distance, and letting the empty sky dominate the upper right 2/3 of the image space all contribute to the feeling of loneliness. The foreground structure's complexity, and the simplicity of the remainder of the photograph further create a symbiotic dichotomy whereby the two components complement, rather than conflict with, one another. Excellent work here. I'm pleased that you shared this image. Darin HeinzMelbourne, Florida USA Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted November 29, 2007 I hope you're referring to the great Ben Webster. The tone is pitch-perfect. Fine shot and treatment. Regards... Link to comment
chens 0 Posted November 29, 2007 Thank you all, especially Liz,Michael,Darin,Joe and Vin, for your kind critiques and ratings. Best Regards. to Michael: The original picture is a color one. First I adjusted the contrast and color tone. Then turned it to B/W but still saved the RGB color type. finally changed the Red and Green "level" to make it a monochrome as any color I liked. Because the photo do not take a very big change in texture or other interesting special effects, so I just used ACDsee not the PS software. to Darin: Thank you for critique the photo so well. I really appreciate that. to Joe: Yes, it's Ben Webster. He is one of my favoriye saxophone players especially the "The Warm Moods" album. Thank you for your supportive critiques and ratings these days. Link to comment
