Since the original posting of this shot, I have fixed the demonic

eyes and I did a tighter crop. I still probably should have cropped

the top more

I went ahead and cropped the top down. I felt like with Lisa's photo with her cute little dog and with Fred's horse photo, this might be appropriate to post. Attached is the same photo with a hat added

Wayne: I don't know if you want to associate Leo with those two horses as they are probably both in that great horse hereafter by now.

Leo looks a bit apprehensive. Was his horse properly trained for riding?

Wayne,

sorry i missed this before. if you could get the horse to pose again, it would probably be better to move him (?) to the right so that the white in front of his shoulders and the white aft of his haunches are about equal.

also, I wouldn't crop anything more, just fiddle with the balance of pieces within the frame that you've made.

Wayne, It's very hard to get a really good picture with a single flash sitting on top of the camera. This one works better than most, but there's still the problem of the sharp solid shadow and the strong reflection of the flash behind the dog's head.

If you are not using a flash with a head that can tilt up and reflect off the ceiling, you can make a flash deflector very easily with just white paper folded and taped so it sits at a 45 degree angle pointed upward. Or, get the cheapest dinky little manual flash and a cheap slave and use that to provide light from the side. With a digital camera's instant feedback, it's amazingly easy to get the exposure right just using guesswork. Move the little flash back or forward to adjust the effect of its light. To avoid the flash's reflection, just angle the camera so that the reflection illuminates something other than the camera lens. The angled wall will be more interesting, too.

To fix this picture, I'd use the clone tool to eliminate both the shadow and the highlight caused by the on-camera flash.

It was the horse that got apprehensive here. He stiffened up like a board LOL. We have moved to a different house since this shot was taken so I will have to do it again against a different back if I can get the horse to pose again. Also, I will use Michael's suggestion and put a piece of paper in front of the flash. That sounds like an excellent idea and I really appreciate that. Thank you all for the comments

Cute shot, Wayne. This is something I could never get Taz to do. He would jump down in a heartbeat. I liked the way you cropped the picture and also added the hat...to funny. Leo must be a real cowboy. As for suggestions, I cannot think of anything, other than I agree with possibly moving the horse to get a better shot of Leo's face. It is definitely a cute picture. I hope to see some more of these!
