Katherine, this is terrific! Bold and imaginitive composition; that just pops with light and shadow. Wonderful contrasts and tones. I'm thinking you've done 'something' to this too; but, boy, does it all work well together. This is absolutely one of my Erickson faves! Outstanding work, Katherine! Cheers! Chris

Hi Katherine,

I can only agree with the above comments. I can only wonder whether those lines my predecessor has mentioned haven't been left on purpose. The vertical one at lest creates a strong V shape that gives strength to the comp. My point of view is that working on the negatives to create whatever result it is you're looking for is as much part of the photographic process as being there with your camera. very well done.

Hi Chris and Jean,

I did add the layer for both purposes of increasing the geometry of the image as well as adding a bit of texture to the walls. For me this just took the image a step beyond just a picture of a window with light and shadows. I also went with a high contrast to accentuate the lines and angles. Thanks again for showing the interest. Take Care! Katherine

Well crafted geometric purpose here, your monochrome conversion displays a pleasing range of tones between highlights and shadow play, the lamp complements the fine lines....cheers.....Tye.

What a wonderful place and time of day to do a study in lights and shadows, plus the textures of the floor and walls just put icing on the whole scene. Because I have to scroll up and down, up and down to enjoy this image I find myself wanting to see it framed and hanging in the wall where I can step back a bit to view it. Thanks for sharing, it is a great image.

You know, I can't help myself; I keep coming back to this image, Katherine. It really has so much to look at; the eyes can't but just slowly wander around soaking up the details, the tones, the contrasts; and just appreciate the work you put into this. I'm with Shawn; I want to see this on the wall; my wall preferably. Great job, Katherine! Cheers (Again)! Chris
