Gorgeous shot!! What a pose! And what I particularly like about this one is that he's not in a marsh! I don't think I've ever seen a heron perched on a fence! Good grab!

Thanks everyone. This guy was one of a kind. I didn't bring my Bigma (50-500 Sigma) on this walk. My wife and I went out for a liesurely walk and for her sake I left it at home. I walked about 12 feet of this guy snapping pictures the closer I got and he didn't fly away, so I got him with a 85mm lens.

You must have found a very brave heron. Around where I live if they see you coming from a mile away they are gone before you can press the shutter button.
