Lovely sense of motion, I love the colour scheme. I do not like the composition however. The most attractive and captivating element to my eye is the vertical highlight area on the left side surrounded by the soft pastel green. It seems too close to that edge and the bright white patch in the lower right throws off the flow and disturbs the balance. I'm left with the feeling that you had no specific intention here regarding composition.

Antanas: Your thoughts are always appreciated.

Kirk: This reminded me of some of Monet's very late work when his eyesight was failing and when he was working large. There is a large canvas at the McNay in San Antonio, where his brushstrokes were so loose and lively that it almost became an abstract.

Glauco: I hope Claude wouldn't be offended by me copying his work. Thanks.

Catalin: I hope today is better than yesterday. I'm glad that the photo provided a little smile in an otherwise bad bad day.

Mehmet: Thanks. I'm glad you found this clever, a description I like a lot.

Gordon: I appreciate your balanced, honest assessment of this photo. The composition was carefully put together and the bits and pieces are there intentionally and not haphazardly. Whether it works or not is another matter. I liked the two bright patches playing against each other, almost like a question and response. A couple others didn't like the placement of the bright patch in the corner. When I removed it, the photo seemed more ordinary and easily dismissed, so I replaced it. I may rethink it, though. Thanks for your honesty.

Honest feedback is what critique is all about I believe and I hope for nothing short of total condor when you comment on my photos. It was not my intention to suggest that I thought you dashed this off. Having followed your work for a spell now I have noted your strong commitment to and attention towards the smallest of details in your work. I was trying to communicate the impression the image leaves me the viewer with and not what I felt you did or did not put into it. I really do love the effect, the colours and the overall feel this generates, I just can't get comfortable with the composition.

I remember my critique on your Mondrian shot on the textures and how the textures somewhat didn"t say Mondrian. This one, you hit out the park. With the bases loaded. In the bottom of the 9th inning. In the World Series. Against Mariano Rivera. With two strikes. Ok, so I went a bit overboard, but there's plenty of fire behind all that smoke. 7/7.

David: I appreciate the nice comment.

Gordon: I didn't take any offense at all by your comment. I really appreciate an honest opinion from you. If a composition doesn't work, I appreciate you pointing out what bothers you because it helps me the next time around.

Emmanuel: First, congrats. More in private. Second, thanks for such an enthusiastic review.

It does seem to echo a certain Claude minus maybe a bridge and some spring flowers. I'm not much into the PS side of things as you know, but this one really catches my eye since I do appreciate Monet. I'm amazed at his later works. I guess that gives me hope that I will improve with age.

Didn't realize Monet worked with failing eyesight, interesting; thanks for the info. Never know what you'll learn.

I don't know anything about "Claude" but judging from the comments above you apparently do. I admire this image and it's range of greens with the pale reds swimming through. Interesting streaks and reflections all combine to make a very pleasing photo. Well done Jeff. Take care.

You have certainly exposed your painter side here. Whatever you did you succeeded in bringing apart from usual water scene, in terms of colors. The size and irregular character of waves and reflections somehow give me a feeling seeing a swarm of butterflies, abstractly speaking - of course. And now, ahead to nearest art gallery.

Kirk: Yep. Makes me feel bad when I complain about small things that interfere with the creative process. Hope you T-day was nice.

Fred F.: Thanks. I'm glad you liked this photo.

Joseph T: I was hoping you'd stop by. Hope your holiday was nice. I hear there was a bit of snow in central Illinois.

Janusz: This doesn't have the pizazz of your abstracts, but I'm glad you like it.

Markku: I like the idea of a swarm of butterflies! Thanks.

Tolo: Thanks much for your comment.
