inspiration point studio 1 Posted November 17, 2007 Great shot. Greeting from his distant cousin Tai Shan at the National Zoo. Click on photo to see other Panda shots.http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2364/1972765503_272ffd814f.jpg Link to comment
inspiration point studio 1 Posted November 17, 2007 Panda, because of its black and white fur, is quite difficult to expose properly. When I use Fuji Velvia and expose for the highlight, spot meter the brightest white fur to +1.75 stop, the black fur is barely visible on the slide, and the scan won't pick up the detail. Using Fuji Provia 400x, with its less contrasty characteristics, solves the problem quite a bit. Here's a shot of Tai Shan's parents using Provia 400x.http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2122/1972765149_110eaac36c_o.jpg Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted November 18, 2007 Lovely composition and great bokeh. Would like to see a little more shadow detail but that is a minor point. This is a very successful image. Congrats! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted November 18, 2007 Wonderful panda shots, Cherlyn. This is wonderful because of the great DOF. I like Walter's PS work ... but am actually not bothered by the post on the left because it sort of anchors the image like it anchors his foot ... and it seems to fit in with the other two posts like a fan. I love watching these guys ... have seen the ones in DC several times. Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted November 19, 2007 Cherlyn, it is a very nice panda image. I like its position on the tree "triangle". the shallow DOF hints of his habitat. I think that cloned out pole( tree? ) on theL side was a good idea, so all the stage go's to the panda. Very nice image. Link to comment
