lbattjes 0 Posted November 13, 2007 Ger, I moved back and forth between this one and the color version and it's amazing how different they are! The color version is fun and carefree, bright and joyful...this version gives me a completely different feel. I feel like the fencing is closing her in and she's running away from something. The darkness adds to the somewhat sinister feel, whereas the bright and colorful version gives me the feeling that she's running toward something and is enjoying it. Does this make sense? I don't usually feel this much difference, so I'm not sure why I am here. Does anyone else feel this way or have I lost my mind?? Leslie Link to comment
jcpopper 0 Posted November 13, 2007 Ger: Both versions are excellent, but the difference struck me in exactly the same way as it did Leslie. I would swear that even her expression is different. It's an intriguing effect. Regards... Link to comment
danbliss 0 Posted November 13, 2007 Oooo. I liked the color version, but I really like this version. The tones and mood are wonderful. I don't know if I'd call it sinister like Leslie, but it a bit darker. In any case, I think it is even stronger than the color version. Nicely done. Dan Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted November 13, 2007 both versions are wonderful but I really feel the subject matter calls for the colour version - that's my preference anyway. Link to comment
gerfoy3 0 Posted November 13, 2007 Ok, I;m very happy the BW has caused everyone to feel different. I didn't just want a conversion, I wanted a different image and spent quite a bit of time on the shadows and the crop to give the different feeling from the colour version Link to comment
mohamadfazli 0 Posted November 15, 2007 I like... More symmetrical framing will make it a better pic Link to comment
celasun 0 Posted November 15, 2007 I looked at the photo without reading the other comments. I felt like I was squeezed between those fences; a sense of being trapped there forever. Since I haven't looked at the said "color version" this is not a "comparative feeling"! (I wouldn't feel like this after seeing the color version, perhaps). I think the photographer succeeded in making this dark, monochrome version... Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted November 15, 2007 I like this version better, as what Leslie has commented on the difference. This jsut give a stronger feel to that moment in time. Link to comment
