Part of the dance that opened my dance exhibition. The dancer name is Emilie magnany.

Thanks for your impressions.

Strong statement through the posture. The title fits the image

One detail though, both feet should have been well inside the frame.

Captivating composition with perfect lighting showing the dancer's graceful posture and attention.

Fun idea of a photo of a dance that serves as an opening to a photo exhibit of dance, and in this photo, a dancer is observing a dance. Quite clever, Pnina. Good perspective

good title and good capture..... Other than changing the composition, not much that I'd change...I'd like to have seen not only her foot in the frame, but the other dancers...

All right. I was just curious what she might look like without the other dancer. I make no claim for improvement here, just a different look.

Thanks to all of you for expressing your point of view.

Dennis, observing many well known photography artist, I learned, that rules are there, and sometime are broken, if it serves the aim of the image. In the dance world, dancers on stage while performing are coming in and going out of the scene all the time, so I think that the" cut"leg of the dancer in this photo has merit. The seating dancer with her leg a bit on the frame, could be better in the frame, but in my opinion it is not hurting the image .

Les, glad to see you here, Thanks for trying, but I think that by eliminating the dancer which is starting her exit from the scene, the significance of the image is lost.....

The contrast of moving and still figures, the framing by the walls and floor... And that exquisite woman in the foreground make this a stunning capture, my dear friend!!! Regards.

Strong composition trough the contrast between the sitting girls and the mouvement of the dancer. You really created a strong tension here.

Pnina, One of my favourites of your dance series. I tend to agree with Eddy and Dennis on the matter of the cut off foot. You defend the breaking of the 'rules' well, and I agree, there are times when that is both desirable and necessary (I just don't agree that this is one of those times) but my bet is the next time you face a similar situation you will be thinking about keeping major elements away from the frame edge. That said, 'getting the shot' is the most important thing and you, as you usually do, captured a moment very nicely. We're talking here about raising the quality of an already good shot, not making a bad shot better. Hope to see more from you in 2008. Happy New Year! Best, LM.

Len, thanks for your visit, evaluation , point of view, and wishes. The nice thing is that after uploading a photo, it has its own life, the photographer's intention is important BUT, each of the viewers will give it his/her own interpretation, and photographic evaluation. I agree about the lower foot, was better if it was not touching the frame, but I wanted the other dancer exit from the image..( stage), and therefor "cut" her in the upper and L side.

I have uploaded another photo which is called " solo red", there I did the same thing, so you have an assignment now...;-))( please) and tell me if you can accept the break of the rule there...

Even considering that I am a pro rule man, I have enough flexibility to accept your statement about broken rules in some cases like you said. Meanwhile, and forgetting the rules, in this particular image, I prefer the standing alone dancer. Just a question of personal taste. To me, it enhances the sitting dancer. By the way, a beautiful image. Regards.
